It was during a long weekend, with a rather bad fever, before August 7, 2000 that deviantART was born. deviantART was coded from the ground up by a Yellow Alien from Japan called Jark, in its entirety, throughout this hot summer weekend.
Slowly but surely the site took off. In what they like to refer to as "the early days" Matt and Jark (the founders) would comment on every single piece of art that was submitted to the site. It was easy to do and they really enjoyed leading by example. It survived many things on its way up to the top.
